Unit 14 discusses authentic materials vs created material used within a classroom setting. Also, it gives the advantage and disadvantages of the usage of course books in EFL lesson plans. It seems an EFL teacher needs to be able to incorporate creative material regardless of whether or not course books are relevant to the class syllabus. Mostly, because it keeps the teacher from becoming lazy and from loosing their creativity or analytical skills. Plus, it helps to further motivate and encourage students when they are able to relate and understand the language of outside materials.This unit taught me about various teaching themes and how they can be applied to different situations. The first section reviewed how to use case studies as a learning tool for students.
The second section described a process called frameworking.
The third used a methodology called problem based learning.
The fourth showed the different ways games can be used to as a learning tool.
The fifth section reviewed computer aided language learning.
The sixth described the use of speech action theory and the final portion of the lesson gave examples of sample lesson plans that can be used.
