This unit covered teaching 'productive skills--speaking and writing'. It was interesting because it made me consider 'accuracy' and 'fluency' when students learn. Teaching a student to write requires improving their accuracy of writing, for errors can lead to a complete misunderstanding of what is written and can't be verified on the spot with the writer. Speaking requires more creativity and fluency, reacting to situations in dialogue as they occur since dialogue is generally spontaneous. Mistakes aren't too problematic in speech because listeners can usually still understand the gist of what is being said.
