There are many different reasons for studying English and many different groups of students. Beginners may be young or adult, each presents its own challenges. When teaching a group of multilingual students there will be many different language difficulties to identify and work with, however the common denominator will be English which maybe helpful in keeping the focus. Beginners need simplicity and consistency of approach, patience and regular reviewing are necessary. Where adult beginners may be slower to pick up, they usually are well motivated. Younger students need shorter activities and a lot of fun to keep them engaged.
