Teaching grammar is the hardest part of being an ESL teacher. We take for granted what 'sounds' correct because it is out native language. We don't learn our language with rules. Foreigners do. They know all the grammar rules or they want to know. Also, teaching English grammar is boring. I have been trying to come up with more ideas to make it fun or interesting. I don't teach students with really low English so some of the idea here wouldn't work well, or would be too simplistic. Practicing (drilling) is still the most effective way. it is giving them the necessary tools to begin self-editing their writing assignments.
