The teacher's attitude has a huge impact on his students and the class. He should be positive and encouraging to encourage the students to try, answer and participate as much as possible. He should speak clearly and give examples so everybody can understand what he is teaching. Being well prepared is also important, for exemple preparing all the material that will be used before the class start. Showing interest and respect to the students will make them also more comfortable and eager to participate (remember their names, hobbies etc and integrate them here and there in the lesson to catch their attention can be a nice idea too).
