Lesson plans allow a teacher to be prepared, organized and ready for each class period throughout the day. Lesson planning provides an aid to planning, a working document, and a record of what is going to be taught. This is extremely helpful to have on file to look back at in future years, and adapt to a particular classes needs. Going off of that idea, a lesson plan should be flexible as every class is unique and will bring different ideas and questions to the classroom. A teacher should always have an idea of what they want to say and get done per a given class period, but never script their lessons or teach in a robotic fashion.
