From this section, I have learned the importance of prompting an initial ice-breaker for the students to warm them up to the language we are about to use. It is helpful to know that during the engage phase, there should be no correction. Once the students are comfortable and fully engaged, then the study portion begins, which makes sense. It seems a good transition of the mind is to shift from friendly chatter to serious contemplative study. I'm thankful to learn that this should be rounded out by the activate stage, which incorporates the newly acquired language or skills into another round of games, stories, etc. This was very helpful.
