We studied how to elicit interest among students for writing and speaking. There are controlled speaking activities, such as drilling and prompting; guided activities, such as model dialogues; and creative communication, such as debates and free role-play. I liked the weather example for a creative ESA speaking lesson because students everywhere have experience with and interest in weather. I like the idea of students writing a play, because plays can be simple, with simple dialog, and other students would enjoy listening to the conversation of a play. I also like the cartoon example, because it can be creative and fun and students can build on each other's ideas.
