This unit covered the types of future tenses and how to identify each one. It also highlighted some of the ambiguity that is characteristic of the 'going to' future tense in comparison to the present continuous. However, the 'be going to' structure is always followed by a verb and this distinguishes the two. The other things I learned in the unit are, but not limited to, the techniques one can follow to teach the future tense, the common student mistakes and how to tackle them as well as the benefit that comes with teaching the future simple and 'be going to' future tenses together in order to emphasize the difference between the two, hence allowing students to appreciate their differences.
