Unit 6's focus on past tenses not only introduced more of the tense system, but also showcased common rules and patterns throughout it. With my prior knowledge of the tense system I was able to make connections between the present and past tense to help myself better identify each specific tense. For example, with my knowledge of present tenses, I was able to connect present continuous to past continuous by noting the presence of the \"to be\" verb and \"ing\" in both cases. I can then use this knowledge in later lessons when dealing with future tenses. This unit helped me to become more comfortable with the layering and rules within the English language that can easily be misused or forgotten.
