Parts of speech are used in the day to day English language. We have a number of them which include nouns,adjectives,verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns , prepositions and conjunctions. These parts of speech help us to add meaning to the sentences we make. As teachers ,we should be in position to understand the meaning of these parts of speech. We should possess adequate knowledge on them, as it will enable use to give simpler explanations with examples to the students. At times they are confusing, however when the teacher has adequate knowledge on their use, it will build students confidence in the teacher. It will also help us to know when, and how we should apply these parts of speech in our speech.
