In Korea where I live, many college students are eager to obtain high score in external exams for their career and study, such as TOEIC, TOEFL or something and they pour a lot of time and money. So did me. However, the high score in those tests does not mean the high proficiency in the language, especially in speaking or writing. So, the tests are changing. They became to include the producive skills as well the receptive ones. Anyhow, as for foreign language speakers, it gives huge self-confidence in gaining the good performance in the external examaninations. So, I think it is important for teacher to help their students to have good command of English and to earn high score in the exams in balance.
