Unit 5 provided useful information on how to manage one's classroom. Managing the class is of high importance as it is the place where learning happens. Managing a classroom is an important skill in teaching English. Eye contact, gesturing and voice control were discussed. These verbal and non-verbal cues affect learning. Grouping students and classroom arrangements take into account the students needs and the physical context. Other points such as writing on the board and individual attention were explored. The advantages and disadvantages of teacher talk time (TTT) and student talk time (STT) were presented, as well as how to properly give instructions, establishing rapport and maintaining discipline.
