This unit went over the basic past tenses. Like the present tense the past tense has four different tenses, these are the past simple, past perfect, past continuous and past perfect continuous. The past simple is used in situations where the actions have completed at a definite time in the past. The past perfect is used in situations where the past is being viewed from another past viewpoint. The past continuous is used for situations where an action began before the time the action was expressed and most likely continued after. Finally, the past perfect continuous is used to express situations that occurred in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we're thinking about.
