Following unit 11 that talked about receptive skills, unit 12 introduces the productive skills, that are speaking and writing. It goes into details about how a lesson should be built if the main focus is speaking or writing. When it describes a speaking skills lesson it explains the differences between accuracy and fluency and tells us what skill should be addressed at what part of the lesson. After that it shows an example of a straight arrow speaking focused lesson. Next it moves on to writing skills to talk about the sub skills that are required and also to show a straight arrow lesson, focused on writing. Last, it explains why games are important and useful tools in the classroom to teach with an element of fun.
