In this unit I learned about the various ways to monitor progress of students during a language course. Through evaluating a students knowledge, we can use Placement, Progress, Diagnostic, and Practice tests to determine what level a student is at and how far they have progressed throughout the course. If, for example, a student's motivation is passing an external examination like TOEFL or a Cambridge Exam, then both language lessons and tests can be tailored to monitor progress of language points expected by such externals exams.
I also felt that testing can also be a great way to testing fluency, as well as gathering information on a students interests and motivations for learning English and taking foreign language courses overall.
