This unit documents the timeline of student testing. Before commencing ESL classes, students must be given placement tests to assess their level of English. From there, students are separated by level and placed in their respective classes accordingly. Once classes begin, students are given diagnostic tests to further understand each students' strengths and weaknesses. Progress tests are given throughout the semester to determine what the students remembered and what they did not. Practice tests are given toward the end of the semester according to what external testing the students will most likely take part in after the course ends. External testing depends on what each student would like to do with their reinforced knowledge of English.
