Unit 12 focuses on the productive skills of speaking and writing (again, considered equally important to each other and equally important to the receptive skills of reading and listening) and how to teach them. We learn that there are primary reasons for people communication with each other and that we must incite a need/desire in students to produce productive skills. Utilizing activities that encourage accuracy and also fluency are important in helping students learn to communicate in English by giving them both the skills to utilize language correctly but also the chance to creatively try out their new vocabulary for communicating, even if it is not entirely accurate, which also allows us to assess both comprehension and the level of the students.
