This unit helped me understand the different types of equipment and teaching aids which can be used in the classroom. Each have their advantages and disadvantages and are a great way to make a lesson more appalling to the students and to keep them engaged. In a technological world, modern and non-static aids are of preference, since students nowadays are used to and expect live material; as such DVDs, videos, video cameras and other interactive materials are to prevail over static material. It all depends on the level of computer awareness of the students and the area they live in. In all cases, a variety of study materials should be used throughout the lesson to make them more interesting, and to broaden the listening, reading and understanding skills of students.
