This unit is about the importance of the two productive skills: speaking and writing. Because writing is a more complex skill to learn, given the students require a greater degree of accuracy, this skill is often not stimulated enough in the classrooms. Many students tend to favour the development of their speaking skills more than writing. This is because there are multiple factors weighing on mastering the English writing proficiency. Next to the insecurities students may experience, their culture, mother tongue and the difficult spelling rules of the English language can present a big challenge for teachers. Through games and topics of the students interests being integrated into the lessons, this hurdle can be overcome and remove possible learning difficulties.
