This unit discussed the importance of speaking a writing. These tools are necessary for students to progress in their understanding of the English language. The key factors of speaking are fluency and accuracy. It is important to focus on both because the more accurate the students become, the easier it will be for them to be fluent and use the language in everyday life. With writing it is also important for the students to have good enough penmanship as to not confuse the teacher or others. Spelling is also important because a misspelled word could cause a student to pronounce it wrong or say a different word entirely. This lesson also taught me that it is important to help students learn the difference between words that are spelled the same or sound the same but have different meanings.
