Unit 20: Unit 20 covered the area in teaching know as Troubleshooting. This unit discussed what it is like for a teacher to enter a classroom. I was very interested in what a teacher should hope to accomplish on the first lesson day. It will be easier for the teacher if the class has already been in existence. The group will already be familiar with each other and comfortable participating in class activities. For the first lesson, the teacher should not include any kind of grammar exercises. Instead, this first class should be used by the teacher to determine the classes language level and establish a rapport with the students. Warmer activities such as a game of Pictionary, hangman, or a memory game can be a fun and engaging way for the teacher to determine the students language level and establish rapport.
