Unit 3 of the ITTT Specialised Teaching Business English course focused on course development. This chapter covered first meetings, level testing, needs analysis, syllabus design, testing and final evaluations.
The course began outlining the objectives of a first meeting with the clientele to, along with a needs analysis, to recognise the student's current English level ability, their needs and how best to organise their groups to meet that need. The next portion of the chapter was dedicated to syllabus design, beginning with various types of syllabus and an example syllabus to demonstrate potential structure. The purpose and needs of the syllabus were also outlined. The chapter concluded with a page on assessment of students, preparing potential students for examinations of external bodies and final assessments.
