Unit 8, while outlining the features and methods of teaching productive skills, further emphasizes the importance of creating an engaging environment for the students. Whether working on writing or speaking, an important goal is to get the students interested, and therefore be more open to absorbing the information through activities such as story creation, games (whether written or acted out), or group participation where they will be able to do more than just focus on the the teacher talking or practice arbitrary writing. I feel encouraged to research more and find material that will interest the students so that their skills will improve naturally, and the memory of the activities in class will hopefully help them make better connections to the class content, resulting in a better and positive understanding of the English language.
