Unit 9 talked about lesson materials such as authentic reading materials, which would be like menus, magazines, newspapers, reading materials which basically have no intended purpose for learning a language. It also talked about created materials and about text books. It discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using different materials, but mainly focused that on text books. It also provided some examples of created materials which are some really helpful resources
I really like how a big focus of this course in general is to reiterate the importance of balance and flexibility in terms of lesson planning. Like the text books are helpful but do not need to be the end all be all of the lesson. I think the course has done a good job too, of exhibiting all of the available resources as useful tools and that any one should not be relied on too much.
