I have used these techniques not knowing the terminology, or the phonemic symbols. I felt there was not enough explanation on the phonemic symbols. I watched both videos twice, and read the text twice, and also went on internet search to learn more information, without much success. I also went to the recommended sites, and did not find them that helpful. I obviously need to do more study in this field. I just hope I pass this unit, because I spent many hours on it.In this lesson, I learned about common problems that may arise when teaching students. I learned the differences between teaching a new group and an existing group and how to handle a first lesson by building rapport. I learned how to use warmers to break the ice with students and to not start with grammar right away. I learned how to deal with students from different levels as well as large classes, and also what to do if students are speaking in their native language.
