This unit describes how to determine what to teach to specific groups at specific levels. Teaching an adult business class is very different from teaching a children's beginning class, and both of those are very different from teaching someone who is not familiar with the Roman alphabet, where you would have to begin with the basics, like writing letters and determining their sounds. There is also a large difference between teaching adults and teaching children, because adults are extrinsically motivated, as they signed themselves up for the class, whereas children might not be as enthusiastic and get bored or have behavioral issues. The important thing to remember is to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the class and be willing to talk to your students about their levels, what they would like/are required to learn, and how best to help them reach their goals.
