In this unit, I was encouraged to read that it is normal to not pay attention to grammatical rules as a native English speaker, and to just be able to hear what is correct or not. That is certainly the case for me and I found Grammar to be my most difficult course in undergraduate studies. Aside from the basic definitions of noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, adverb, and conjunction, all of this was new learning for me. I was introduced to some of the more confusing concepts, such as prepositions, which show the relationship between a noun and another word, but have varying rules for placement. A gerund is when a verb is used as a subject or object in the sentence and usually ends with \"ing.\" Transitive and intransitive verbs was a new concept for me as well. Transitive verbs can be followed by an object, whereas intransitive cannot and are often related to time, place, or frequency.
