The lesson focused on how to examine a students' language levels. While it described tutorials and student evaluation as effective methods to determine the language level, it is clear that the most common way is through testing the student. The chapter provided many tests used to determine students' levels at the beginning of the course, their progress ion throughout the course and the level at which they have reached by the completion of the course. The chapter proceeds to give details about the many external exams that are taken by non-native speakers to progress in studies, careers, or living arrangements. I found the Cambridge Exams interesting, as they are the most popular exams to take for English learners. I believe that it is the job of the English teacher to actively prepare and encourage students to take these exams in order to provide more career opportunities in the future.
