Unit 18 looks at modals and passive voice in detail, two grammar points that teachers need to be familiar with to teach an English language learners. It covers modal auxiliary verbs, their usages, teaching ideas and some difficulties they can cause for both teachers and students. It also covers the usage of the passive voice, the comparisons with the active voice, its usages and useful teaching ideas. At the end of the unit, brief overview on the three phrasal verbs and the three categories of relative clauses was covered. I've learnt that there may be many difficulties when teaching these topics based on the many differences and combinations used in the modal auxiliary verbs. It gets even harder for students when they are introduced to semi modal auxiliary verbs. The same goes for the passive/active voices, phrasal verbs and relative clauses. Therefore, the \"golden rule' applies here.
