This unit covered parts of speech. It was slightly challenging but also very informative. There was a lot of new material for me to learn that I have never been taught formally before. I was slightly intimidated by the fact that not only do I need to grasp all the grammar rules myself but I also need to understand them well enough to be able to teach them. As a native English speaker I never really have to think about why I write the way I do, the rules come naturally to me. It is important as a teacher to recognize that for someone trying to learn English these rules are extremely important and by understanding them can help the learners structure their sentences accurately.
Despite my difficulties I think that the unit is well organized and developed in a way that is easy to follow. I believe that with some practice and repetition I will feel confident recognizing all the different parts of speech.
