This unit gives details about the different usages,structure and forms of the Past Tenses used in the English language, specifically including: Simple Past, Perfect Past, Past Continuous and finally, the Psst Perfect Continuous. Teaching ideas of narrative storytelling, and visual cues such as pictures/holiday photos, as well as gap fill, are just a few of the activities suggested for teachers to use with their students as an aid to help them learn the past tenses in both conversation as well as sentence structure. These teaching ideas are intended to be applied to the Activate stage of the ESA teaching model/methodology. From reading through the entire unit, I have learned how the past tenses relate to the present, in both form and usage, and most importantly, how to impart this knowledge to my students through various visual activities which will aim to prepare each student for success in the real world.
