There is so much debate where I live regarding the usefulness of tests, particularly mass school testing to identify the level of education of certain age groups for certain school districts. On the whole, I disapprove of the three-day practice of mass testing just to prove whether students are learning because I believe it is mostly political. However, I whole-heartedly agree with the type of testing outlined in this unit since it is geared to benefiting the student. The international testing information was quite helpful in that I did not know about the various protocols. I love the concept of the example tests and especially the progress and diagnostic tests once students have begun to learn. For younger students (children) I would lean toward games as a way of judging progress. Since this is my last 'unit', I just wanted to say thank you. I have enjoyed what I have learned and hope to be a thoughtful teacher who brings excitement and knowledge to her students.
