This unit mainly focuses on the basic factors to have successful receptive skill lessons including reading and listening skills. There are different purposes to read or listen to a text or dialogue and how we read or listen serves a crucial role in comprehension. There are various skills such as predictive skills, scanning, skimming, detailed information, and deduction from context which are according to the purpose of reading or listening. In order to have a successful receptive skills comprehension and preventing the problems might occur teaching them during the class, the teacher should consider and follow some factors such as choosing suitable topics and materials that motivates and interests students, pre-teaching complex vocabularies or structures, encouraging interest before reading or listening -Engage phase-, using proper comprehension tasks which leads to a better understanding , and also incorporating activate stages that are based to the text or dialogue.
