This unit describes the most important methodologies of language teaching and learning. The best is without doubt the ESA method, that stresses the importance of motivating the students, exposing them to the language and giving them the opportunity to use it. It has three Stages: the Engage, the Study and the Activate Stage. The language spoken in the lesson should be only English. The first phase is considered as a \"warmer\" where it's not necessary to cover the lesson content: the teacher tries to catch his/her students' attention and get them involved in the lesson. Corrections should be avoided and the main aim is to keep high the students'talk time, whereas the Study Stage is more focused on the construction of the language (through elicitations, worksheets, etc.). Last but not least we have the Activate stage. This is perhaps the most interesting part because here the students have the opportunity to put into practice what they have just learnt and to experiment with the language.
