The choice of course book and materials depends on the teachers preference (after making a decision based on the class being taught) and which teaching style they want to incorporate. Authentic materials should be carefully selected as they are not graded for level, but they can add interest and can be very engaging. Created materials help supplement the material being taught, sometimes the teacher needs to omit material that is not well suited or too difficult for the students. These are also graded for level, which can be an advantage. Course books are generally expected from the students. They can offer a complete curriculum and seem very attractive, as well as being a good start for beginner teachers. On the downside, course books can make a teacher become lazy, and the students may get bored of the content.
