To be honest I don't feel very confident that my study answers are in the right order. For example, why couldn't I give a matching or gap-fill exercise first and elicit vocabulary later? Or the other way around? I feel that the questions regarding this area are a bit inflexible while the lesson emphasizes flexibility in our planning.
My lessons almost never go as planned and I almost always cover only about half of what I have prepared. That's how teaching goes when you've been doing it for a long time. On the other hand, I could go into a classroom and teach a 90 minute ESA like lesson with no preparation at all. In fact, I had to do that today when wifi was not working on my phone and I couldn't download the notes I needed. A beginning teacher would have been trouble, but not me! Also, I often find that the teaching of one point will lead to an opportunity to teach a related point that I had not planned for. That happens quite often. It is quite common that I devise curriculum and improvise as I go along.
