A few of the methodologies of teaching a foreign language do not provide as much diversity as a whole to the teaching of a new language. One focuses more on the translation of words and phrases, another on repetitive drills, while another may only focus on the structure. In my experience the best is a the use of many different techniques. When I studied Spanish in the National University of Bogota, my teachers all used many of the different forms of teaching.
I learned in this Unit that the engagement stage is used to not only get the attention of all of the students but also to involve all of the students. During the study stage of the lesson it is important to ensure that all of the students understand the instructions of the activity before handing it out. During the activate stage, the teacher can observe and receive feedback of the lesson. I also have learned that it is best to focus on the corrections that need given during the study stage and that allowing the student to process their errors can be more efficient.
