The overview of the content of unit 7 is mainly about the aspects of what to teach when teaching a new language, specifically; English to speakers of other languages. Covering the three major elements to be taught: Vocabulary, Grammar, and Language Function; the chapter covers what to take into consideration when selecting what should be taught from these different categories. Along with what should be taught, there are considerations on what might make the categories more difficult for different students, examples of activites that may be used following the E.S.A. lesson format, and example lessons to follow with the different E.S.A. types. From this unit I have learned all these elements, the foundation of what comprises teaching a new language, and the criteria that must be considered when teaching certain elements. Not all students will find the same vocabulary similar in difficult because of their native language's background and relation to the English word being presented. All concepts should be practical, useful, appropriate, and frequent.
