Teach English in Oakham - TESOL Courses
This unit covered the basics of the importance of a lesson plan and the reasons for needing to either write one down, or to go without one. Generally an inexperienced teacher should always be prepared at all times, but not scripted and inflexible. This is so that they are familiar with what they are teaching, what their objectives are, how to explain it effectively to the class, and how to address any problems the students may have with the material being covered. In my experience, even experienced teachers should rely on at the very least, a rudimentary lesson plan and procedures to make sure that they understand the material, are ready for discrepancies and surprises, and always have the material needed for class. Of course, planning for the class will also help make the class a lot more interesting and engaging for the students as well. As I may have mentioned in a previous unit, my schools have never asked more than just an ESA procedural format, so I learned a lot by acquiring a better understanding of the boomerang and patchwork style formats for more complex, but intuitive lesson plan.
