In this lesson, i have learnt about the importance of teaching speaking and writing to students and the different components of the skills.
For speaking, there are accuracy and fluency activities, and the lesson has included activities that can be conducted that can help students learn these speaking skills.
For writing, the additional factors that need to be considered and incorporated are spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation.Unit 13 discussed teaching pronunciation and phonology. I found this unit to be useful, but extremely difficult. As pronunciation is an important key to learning language, I believe I will have to revisit this unit to get more familiar with all of the concepts such as rise/fall, fall/rise, and flat (intonations), aspects in relation to place of articulation, and the phonemic chart. Definitely one of the more challenging units so far...
