Like the unit about the present tenses, this served as a solid review of the past tenses, their forms, and their usages. It was especially helpful to get a clear understanding of the difference between the past perfect and past perfect continuous forms. With this new understanding, I am confident that I can more clearly convey the meanings of these tenses through visual aids which will be particularly helpful for my lower level students.This was a short but intriguing lesson about the two receptive skills: reading and listening. The different motivations for reading and listening are essentially reading or listening for pleasure or for a specifically important purpose. This lesson also covered common problems students may have with reading and listening. Teachers are exhorted to choose material that will both engage the students and be suited to their level of competency.
