In Unit 19: Teaching Specific Groups, I learned the details needed for teaching different types of beginners, for teaching children, and for teaching Business learners. In teaching beginners, there are 5 basic types: the True beginner who has no previous English learning, the False beginner who has had English learning, Adult beginner, Young beginner who learns more quickly, and beginner with no alphabet knowledge. Knowing each of these groups will allow the teacher to pertain the course to suit the individual needs. The teacher should keep in mind that while teaching Young learners & those with no alphabet knowledge can be challenging in its own way, it is also rewarding because of the amount of curiosity they have. When teaching Efl for Business learners, the teacher should bear in mind that they don't need to possess a host of business knowledge for the course to be successful, but rather giving the students real opportunities for interacting and using their business vocabulary is key. Remembering these tips for teaching special groups will help a teacher to be prepared for any situation.
