This unit on Lesson planning starts off with why should we plan lessons? Then it gives the functions of Lesson Plans, which are: An Aid to planning; A working document; and A record of what was done during the lesson.
It then shows how should a lesson plan be organized and written down. The things that should be included in a lesson plan are: Learner objectives ? what you want the student to be able to do; Personal aims - What the teacher wishes to achieve; The Language Point which is the subject of the lesson; Teaching Aids and Materials that will be needed for the lesson; Anticipated problems; The Procedures that will be used; The E, S, or A phases of the lesson and the Timing and Interaction ( TS SS or student working alone) for each.
General information such as Class level, Number of Students, Teacher?s and Observer?s names, Date and place should accompany each plan.
Examples are given and Templates are provided for the lesson plan and for Monitoring the lessons, including a Self Evaluation Form.
In planning a sequence of lessons one should consider flexibility; goals; variety and balance; and be able to revise the plan to fit the actual circumstances as events require
