Teach English in West Bedlington - TESOL Courses
In my opinion lesson planning is a very good idea, especially for an inexperienced teacher. Firstly, it creates a logical sequence for the lesson, so it basically gives a structure to work from. Secondly, it is a working document that the teacher can refer to during the lesson. Last but not least, it is considered to be a record which is helpful for the teacher in the future to check what has been taught before, moreover it can be used for covering if substitution is needed for whatever reason. So, a lesson plan is really useful, however, the teacher should not stick to it word for word, which means that a certain level of flexibility should be built in the lesson as well.
The plan should cover 2 main areas: some general information about the class, e.g. the name of the teacher, date and time of the lesson, what level of class is being taught, in what room and how many students are expected to be there. On the other hand, the context of the lesson together with the focus should also be given. Also important points are the learning objectives both for the students and the teacher. The anticipated problems for the students and the teacher should be also mentioned and some solutions should be given to be ready when a certain problem occurs.
