There are many methods and techniques to teach and learn english, but this course is based on the \"engage, study, activate - ESA\" method. These three components, can be mixed, but it's important that each lesson starts with the engage phase and finishes with the activate phase.
In the engage sequence, the teacher needs to capture the interest of the students and get them involved in the lesson. She can use different activities like partner information share, fizz-buzz, seven, memory games, pictionary, word linking etc. The aim is to have high student talk time.
In the study sequence the attention is on the language and how it is constructed. Usually this phase starts with elicitation and then the teacher can continue with other activitiesof pronunciation, spelling, meaning, etc. It's important correct the mistakes and errors, letting the students to correct themselves like first option or allow the other students to correct the mistake. The teacher should intervene like last option, so the students have the time to think about the mistake and work it out.
In the activate stage, the students should be encourage to be creative and use the language they already know and the recently acquire knowledge. In this way the teacher can have a feedback about the lesson.
