This unit involved lesson plans, how to make one, and why lesson plans are important, particularly for newer and less experienced teachers. Lesson plans serve as an aid to your lessons so that the teacher can write down the learning objective for their students and how the teacher will make that possible. It can serve as a reference point throughout the lesson, help the teacher plan the timing of the lesson, and keeps a record of what the class has learned and what materials have been used. Furthermore, the lesson plan can help a substitute teacher should the teacher be unable to come into work. The lesson plan is ultimately up to the teacher, but especially for inexperienced teachers it can be helpful to stick to general guidelines until the teacher has more experience in the classroom. In general, a lesson plan could include the learning objective, personal aims, language point of the lesson, teaching aids, anticipated problems with solutions, procedure and phases of the lesson, timing of the activities, and the type of interaction for each activity. Basic information such as number of students, date and time, class room number and level, and teacher name should also be included. A good teacher will use a lesson plan to make sure that their students get the best from each lesson and to improve their teaching for the future.
