Unit 16 teaches about conditionals and reported parts of speech. There are 5 types of conditionals. The zero's form is if/when + present tense, it's usages is there is a condition then there is a consequence. The first conditional's form is if + present simple- will, it is used in situation in the future that is possible once the condition are meet. The second conditional's form is if + past simple would, could might be + base, used in the present or future \"un real\", it probably won't happen. The third conditional's form is if + past perfect, would/could/might + have + past participle, the usage of the third one is hypothetical past action and hypothetical past consequence. Mixed conditional's form is if+ past perfect - would + base form and it is used hypothetical past action and a hypothetical present consequence. Some teaching ideas for conditionals include split sentences, complete the conditional, chain conditionals and role playing with hypothetical situations. Reporting speech and direct speech teaches about conversations that take place now or in the past reporting what someone said. It is important to go slow and repeat these types of communications because there are many exceptions. Teaching ideas can include role playing, using 3 students where two don't talk to each other, doing a media interview reporting the 3rd party speech and using reporting verbs and choose the correct verb for the given sentences.
