A teacher has many different equipment, teaching aids, and technology resources at their disposal that can be used to help teach English students in the classroom.
There are basics that all classrooms will likely have, such as the board, course books, and the course book supplements such as a cassette recorder, CD player, and any audio files. Resource books are usually also provided by the school as supplements to the course book and for the teachers to make their lesson plans. How many resources are included depends also on the school funding and the area that the school is in.
Other resources include an overhead projector, dictionaries, visual aids, worksheets or work cards, and computers and online resources. With dictionaries English-English dictionaries should be encouraged, though perhaps at the lower levels an English to native language dictionary is necessary. Visual aids and work sheets or work cards often are made by the teacher and make classes more interesting and varied. They can also often be used, especially if the work cards or work sheets are laminated. Use of computers and online resources are extremely valuable and can provide countless opportunities for the TEFL teacher. There are many websites available for help for the teacher, but there are also things that can be utilized for the classroom such as English podcasts or video clips such as the ones on Youtube in order to help the students grasp the language.
