Teach English in Hingham - TESOL Courses
I have to admit I approached this course with an element of skepticism, having some experience working & teaching abroad I felt I had a good understanding of what was required as a professional E.F.L teacher.
As I got into the course though, I realized there was a lot I didn?t know, particularly about the technical & grammatical structure of the english language, & because of this it was helpful in a multitude of ways. I learned a great deal about my native language and how to classify & present the different tenses, conditionals, modal verbs, & the differences between the passive & active voice. By working through these aspects of the english language I now understand the difficulties someone would have learning english as a second language & how I could present these ideas in a clear and simple fashion for students to better understand.
I also took in a lot about lessons & lesson planning, & how to be a more effective teacher. Once I started planning out the lessons, I become accustomed with the thought process that goes into an effective lesson and how to transition between activities & phases fluently. It turns out that lesson planning can even be quite fun!
I also learned a variety of things about classroom management, how to effectively use a course book, what to consider when teaching special groups, & how to troubleshoot. All of this information will help me if or when I confront these problems in the classroom. Although I feel a great deal more comfortable and capable with teaching english abroad now, I realize that I still have a great deal to learn and it?s nice that I can refer back to this material down the road. Overall, I believe this course was well worth it and would recommend it to anyone considering or even already involved in a career in teaching english.
